The royals of Portugal built a bunch of baller palaces in the middle of beautify forests on top to hills. Today I’m a at Bussaco Palace, which is now operated a fully functional hotel and restaurant. The palace is surrounded by amazing nature gardens and meandering paths, and has the largest fern garden in Europe. It looks like it’s usually about $125 per night to stay at the hotel. You can also just drive in and walk around the forest and gardens. I think the entry fee is €5 per car. If you are on foot it’s free to walk in.
