The latest street style snaps from Waldo County.
After the relentless heat of summer, even a tropical weather dweller like me gets excited about fall. Especially since it means finally being able to wear more than a tank top, board shorts, and flip flops. So to get you hyped for this swagged out cool season of layers, season of layers, here’s my latest outfit idea that’s guaranteed to have you looking good while the leaves turn.
I needed a break from that Miami heat and the stress of NYC, so I took a trip up to Maine over Labor Day weekend for an retreat into the wilderness. My family has a cabin on a private island near Rockland, it’s the perfect place to unwind in nature. My wife and I packed up our Tentsile tree hammock, hoodies, and boots and caught a flight up to Portland. We drove up the scenic Route 1, stopping at the Maine’s best lobster shacks, and quintessential New England towns.

On my feet, I’m wearing brown leather Timberland boots, with white soles. These boots are durable enough for hiking through the forest, but the white soles means I can still wear them on the boat. Denim shirts were designed for the transitional weather in the fall. They give you to relaxed feeling, but if they’re tailored enough, they can be buttoned and still feel like smart casual menswear. I’m pairing the army green denim shirt with indigo jeans that have gold stitching. Then it’s all brown accents. If you’ve been following my style guides, you know I personally consider myself more of a brown leather man. Fall is one of the best times to breakout those rustic rugged brown leather shoes and accessories.
I’m wearing two colors of denim jeans this fall, dark indigo and stone wash. I’m taking a break from colored or blue denim jeans, and brining it back to that style that was cool in high-school. It’s a little band wagon I know, but part of the fun in this for me is following along and seeing who can do it best. I like the competition. The super light acid wash is still cool to wear in Miami, but it’s too summery for anywhere with colder weather.
