Belgium’s second city and biggest port is Antwerp (Antwerpen/Anvers in Dutch/French) and without a doubt, this charming city is the country’s capital of cool. It's long been a powerful magnet for everyone from fashion moguls and club queens to art lovers and diamond dealers.

What to do in Antwerp

My short list of the top destinations and things to do with one day in Antwerp, Belgium.

Grote Markt

The quintessential mid evil turned modern European city center. There's plenty of great restaurants, cafes and shops full of chocolate and waffles. Check out my vlog or Google Map for food and drink recommendations.

Walk up to the 10th floor for a free panoramic view of the city. Tour the exhibits if you have the time to appreciate the art. The museum houses a diverse collection of work and is well curated.

Walk around the city center and admire the amazing architecture from different perspectives. The interior has some of the most amazing stain glass work you'll ever see. It's magnificent.

Het Steen

After MAS, I'd suggest stopping for a beer and snack then walking along the waterfront to the Hat Steen castle. You can just walk right up around and through it. Take some pics and read the story boards. The castle and the city have interesting histories that may provoke some thoughts and discussions.

Visiting for more than one day?

If you have an extra day or are traveling by car, touring De Koninck brewery is a cool option. But it’s not worth driving out there if you only have one day.

Free Parking Antwerp

Free parking in Antwerp near the city center.

It's a 20 minute walk along the river bank, but might be worth it if you are going to spend the whole day. The parking can get a little pricey.

This is the cheapest parking near Antwerp city center. 3.60 Euros for 2 hours or 1.80 Euros per hour. It's right on the riverbank close to Grote Markt and Het Steen.
